Our 2nd Blog Mini-Series, each Weekday in JULY!

Thank you for joining us as we
continue this JOURNEY
...
digging in to the 2nd -
3rd CHAPTERS of Keith's book,
Keep the FAITH…Keep Your VISION”!

If you will read this book in its entirety, then you will be equipped to begin walking with the confidence and authority that Jesus Christ came and died to provide for us, in order that we may work *with* Him, be *fulfilled* in our work, lead a *successful life*, and...

Day #1 of 20-day Blog mini-series #2,
Chapter TWO, "In Christ Jesus our Lord"

"In Christ Jesus our Lord"
Anything and everything that is done apart from God is vain. No matter how good the cause may seem, to ourselves or to others, and no matter what the outcome, unless God has sent us and is with us, as He said to Gideon (see Judges 6:14-16), we ultimately will fail in any endeavor. With God, however, we can do all things; for it is His strength that is with us and in us. "Surely, shall one say, in the LORD have I righteousness and strength." (Isaiah 45:24) That strength is the life of the Lord Jesus Christ being fulfilled in us. "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." (Galatians 2:20)

Question to ponder:

How does it make you feel to know that, God has sent you to do a unique work created just for you to do, and you can do all of those things in His strength?  _________________________________________

Keith's "Comments from the Author":

"There are no two people who are created alike, or who are wired for the same purpose. Hence, there are no two people alike in their calling and abilities. Each one of us is uniquely designed to fulfill a part in God’s plan and divine purpose, for all of His Creation. There were monumental times in my life when I stepped out in faith, offering love and gratitude to God, as I took advantage of tremendous opportunities where God would be magnified in the eyes of those who saw, or heard, what I was stepping out in faith to accomplish *with* Him. I am compelled to step out in faith, to serve 'with' God WHOLE-HEARTEDLY, because it's by Him I am able to know the who, what, and why He created and wired me to be, to begin with.

'...unless God has sent us and is with us...'  We encourage you to pull up the Scripture of what God said to Gideon in Judges 6:14-16. As you read it and meditate on it, take notice of the parallels between Gideon and his journey, and the journey that God has planned and lays out for you, individually, and He has one for each one of us, individually. I don’t know about you, but I sure don’t want to find myself standing before our Almighty, Loving God having done my own thing, or having done simple 'good things' at the expense of 'the right thing'. There’s nothing more wonderful than working w-i-t-h God to fulfill the plan He has created for our lives.
"

"...Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, Who loved me, and gave Himself for me."
 (Galatians 2:30)

The Fruit's on the End of the Limb

When was the last time that you "went out on a limb" or, as we Christians say, stepped out in faith for something, especially to the point of actually hearing the limb cracking under you?

W hen I was in grade school, I remember very vividly the passion that I had for building things, especially tree forts. Each night before my friends and I would start to build, and we built quite a few in those days, I would lie in bed and my mind would come alive with visions of a tree house that was second only to the one in Walt Disney's movie, "The Swiss Family Robinson." I could see it all so clearly: Ladders; trap doors; rope swings; windows; and so much more. I could hardly wait to get home from school to get to work on it.
As you can imagine, each day in class was quite a battle for me as well. It never failed, I would find myself headlong in a fight to stay focused on my school work while, at the same time, struggling to hold at bay the temptation to daydream about everything I had planned for that afternoon. I regret to say that, more often than not, it was a skirmish that regularly ended in my defeat. Once the final bell rang, I grabbed my books and headed for the bus with my bud's. It seemed like the bus ride that actually took about twenty minutes took every bit of an hour. It goes without saying, we could hardly wait to get home! When we arrived at our bus stop, we would jump off of the bus, run home, change into our play clothes, gather up our tools, and head straight for the woods. Finally, it was time to make our vision a reality!
Anyone who is well-versed in the fine art of tree fort construction will tell you that the first order of business is always the selection of the perfect tree. Living in Virginia Beach, Virginia at the time, we found that the best trees were either maple or oak. Even though we also had lots of pine trees, they were not as desirable since their limbs were usually much higher up and rather brittle. Once we had picked out the best tree, we then set out to locate the materials we would need. Fortunately for us, the housing development where we lived at the time was only a few years old and was surrounded with quite a few new home construction sites. We would grab our little red wagons and head straight for the nearest scrap pile. While one guy was picking up discarded nails, others would be digging through the piles for scrap 2x4s and ply wood. Once we gathered everything we needed, we then loaded it all on the wagons and headed for the woods.
With our tree picked out, all of the materials gathered together, and with our dads' saws and hammers in hand, it was finally time to begin construction. We went right to work. Our first project was to cut short pieces of 2x4s to nail to the trunk of the tree. These would serve as a makeshift ladder. Once we nailed enough of them up high enough to reach our desired build site, where the limbs were just right, it was then time to frame up the floor. This was perhaps the most crucial stage of the project. Here is how it works. The bigger you want your fort to be, the further out on the limb you would have go to nail up your first floor supports. So really, the size of your fort was directly related to the courage of the guy whose job it was to make that first trip out on the limb. To put it simply: little courage, little tree fort; big courage, big tree fort! After quite a few painful plunges to the ground, I was able to develop a pretty fail-safe method of doing this. I would climb out on the limb until I heard it starting to crack, then slide backward about two feet and nail the floor support at that spot where I could reach. It never failed. This way we knew that we were actually building the biggest tree fort that we could for the size tree that we had chosen. It was interesting, you could actually look at the size of some of the other guys' tree forts and tell a lot about their level of courage, or lack thereof. Sadly, most of their forts were really nothing more than small platforms nailed very securely to the truck of their tree. It's a simple fact, 'scaredy cats’ never build big tree forts!
I soon found that the same theory we used for building tree forts also applied when picking apples out of a neighbor's tree. It did not take but a few seconds to see that the apples did not grow out of the trunk of the tree and, if we wanted to enjoy them, we were going to have to go out on the end of the limb to get them. Sure, you can cling to the trunk where it is much safer, and occasionally reach far enough to grab an apple or two, but if you really want an abundant harvest, you will have to go out on the limb. This is not a task for the faint-hearted. The whole time you're out there, you're faced with two thoughts: First, just how good the apples are going to taste once we get out to them; Secondly, just how fearful it was to think of taking that much-dreaded plunge to earth. I eventually learned that, the more I would venture out on limbs, the less often I would fall.
When was the last time that you went out on a limb or, as we Christians say, stepped out in faith for something, especially to the point of actually hearing the limb cracking under you? For some, it could be getting the courage to share your love for Jesus with unbelievers. For others, it could be asking their boss for a much-needed promotion, or getting the courage to leave a church body that is steeped in religion in order to pursue one that practices the complete Word of God. No matter what you are pursuing, the sound of the limb cracking under you means different things to different people. To most, that sound represents impending doom that usually results in the abandonment of reaching their goals in life while, to the rare few who have overcome fear and doubt, that cracking sound is always an indication that abundance lies just ahead.
In the business world it is a well-known fact that the risk-takers eventually become the money-makers! This same principle also applies to our life in Christ. If we truly want to live the abundant life that Jesus Christ came to provide for us, we are simply going to have to turn loose of the trunk, or go beyond the place of comfort in our lives, and climb out to where the fruit is. "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." (John 10:10) We refer to this process of going out on the limb as "stepping out in faith". And, if we are going to be successful as Christians, "walking by faith" will have to be a regular part of our daily life. Successful Christians do regularly what unsuccessful Christians do only occasionally! "For we walk by faith, not by sight." (2 Corinthians 5:7) As a matter of fact, our living life by faith is not simply an option, it is mandatory if we want to be pleasing to God. Paul teaches us, "But without faith it is impossible to please Him (God): for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a Rewarder of them that diligently seek Him." (Hebrews 11:6)
If we truly want to be successful in God's eyes, we must make “stepping out in faith” our way of life. Think about it for a moment. Do you personally know and love God enough to trust Him and to stop clinging to the fruitless truck of life's tree? If not, abundance will always remain out of reach for you. Everything is based on faith where God is concerned and, frankly, those who do not trust Him will always live on the outside of a whole, fulfilled life. Ironically, this is where the vast majority of folks who claim to be Christians dwell today. The Church today is filled with hearers of God's Word, but very few who are the doers. "But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves." (James 1:22)
The unsaved world, whether they know it or not, looks for people who will lead the way IN-to life's fulfillment. Sadly, though those leaders are supposed to be us in the Church, the unsaved world AND the Church today are both in desperate need of "godly heroes". What this means for you and me is that we have the priceless opportunity to both speak and model God's Word to this lost and rapidly dying generation.
What part has God called you to play in this end-times harvest of souls and can you say without a shadow of a doubt that you are doing everything that you possibly can to see that calling fulfilled in your life? One of the most widely publicized accounts of someone stepping out in faith was Peter stepping out of the boat and walking across the water to meet Jesus. "But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. But straightway Jesus spoke unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. And Peter answered Him and said, Lord, if it be Thou, bid me come unto Thee on the water. And He said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus." (Matthew 14:24-32) Peter was the only one of the disciples who loved and trusted Jesus enough to even try stepping out.
Never forget, it is always better to try and fail, rather than to never have tried at all! One thing I can guarantee you is, if we never climb out there, we can be sure to never eat of the fruit of abundance!
Imagine how God feels when we believe Him enough to attempt something that we have never had the courage to try before. Much like the jubilation that occurs between parents at the sight of their child taking their first step, God also rejoices when we, as His children, attempt to step out on His Word, like Peter did.
Is there something you are praying for that has not yet come to pass? Is there something that you have wanted to do for a long time but, for one reason or another, you have not yet attempted it? I encourage you to throw off any fear or doubts you may have, and get out there! Launch out into the deep and see if Jesus won't bless you in the same way that He blessed Peter and the guys for their obedience in Luke 5:4-7: "Now when He (Jesus) had left speaking, He said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. And Simon answering said unto Him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at Thy Word I will let down the net. And when they had this done, they enclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net broke. And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink."
There is indescribable abundance that God has in store for any one of us who is obedient to act on His word! As a matter of fact, take a look at what resulted from Abraham's obedience to God when he was asked to sacrifice his only son Isaac, who he and Sarah had waited over 100 years to bear. In offering his son as an act of his trust in God and the promises of God, he fulfilled his assignment for his life. "And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time, And said, By Myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son: That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed My voice." (Genesis 22:15-18)
Think about that for just a moment.  Because of that one act of Abraham's obedience, every generation since then has been blessed! Not only do we suffer when we fail to act on God's Word and assignment for our lives, but think of all of those who will come behind us who will miss out on their own inheritance, if we fail to obey God's voice for our lives.
Be courageous, be strong, throw back your shoulders, and walk right into the face of the intimidating spirits that have, in the past, hindered you from possessing the fulfillment of God's promises for your life.  And never forget, "When thou pass through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walk through the fire, thou shall not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee." (Isaiah 43:2)
I encourage you with all of my heart to set aside a time to pray and fast for the purpose of hearing God's voice for your life's assignment.  If I had not faced my own fears where climbing trees were concerned, we would have never enjoyed playing in the nicest tree forts or eating the sweetest apples.
God has blessing beyond measure waiting for you, as soon as you get out there and take those steps of faith.  "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me."  (Philippians 4:13)

God gives Keith a GLIMPSE into HELL

"The truth of the matter is this:
Hell begins on the Earth in the hearts of those who do not want to have anything to do with their Creator.  When people turn their back on the Truth and open themselves up to unclean spirits, they are offering themselves to be used by those spirits to advance satan's vindictive agenda.  And, trust me, as soon as he is finished using your body and talents, he will throw you away like last week's garbage."  Keith Shealy

Satan and his minions are frauds.  Although satan presents himself as being great and powerful, he can do nothing beyond what his Creator allows him to do.  This also applies to all of the fallen angelic host.  They will eventually be imprisoned in Hell, along with those who have rejected The Truth - eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord - and followed the ways of death yielded to the sin that stole from them the years for which God had so many wonderful things planned.  The very desire they pursued is the very instrument of their ruination.  All of the horrible things that they are a part of, are simply the early stages of the eternal torment such people will experience, when they finally get their wish to be completely separated from God.  And, though they get their wish, they will never be satisfied, as Hell is not a place of satisfaction.  There will be NO party.

So, if Hell is not the party that so many are being convinced that it is, then what is it really like?  I had been hearing so many people down through the years say something to the effect that, "Hell will be a big party and all of my friends will be there!"  Though I was very aware that they were saying this in jest, each time I heard it, my heart would ache because, in many of those cases, it was obvious they were making that statement as a way to brush off their need to face the reality of the sin in their life.  In short, satan had convinced them to remain deceived in their dead-end lifestyle, which is no life at all.
While in prayer early one morning, I asked the Lord to show me what Hell is really like.  You might wonder why I would even ask for that!  Well, I asked so that I could better warn those who have been deceived, or lulled to sleep, concerning the reality of Hell and its horrors.  I will try my best to describe to you what I saw, but, before I start please understand that human language and understanding are not enough to even begin to describe the sheer horror and never-ending torment that awaits those who are sentenced to Hell!

So, about 4:00 AM on May 30th, 2007, this is what I saw.  If you have ever smelled the sickening stench of the charred remains of someone who has died in a fire, multiply that by the countless number of bodies in that putrid condition, and you have but a minute example of the state of those who are in Hell.  They are not simply scorched to death, but they are trapped in a state where their flesh is literally burned all the way down to their bones, leaving only charred pieces of muscle tissue, skin, and singed hair fused to their skeleton, making them totally unidentifiable for even the most skilled forensic scientist.

Now imagine that that person is you, and that instead of mercifully dying of shock shortly after you are exposed to the fire, you continue to be aware and awake, completely conscious that every single cell in your body is burning at a temperature that can only be compared to that of the surface of the sun.  Within mere seconds of arriving in Hell, you would feel pain so excruciating that you would uncontrollably chew your tongue to shreds; and you would ceaselessly grind your teeth while, at the same time, letting out bloodcurdling screams begging for just a second's worth of relief that never comes.

It was apparent, in just the first glimpse that I had, that Hell is a massive place with different things going on everywhere I looked.  The one huge cave or cavern-like area that I saw was filled with countless small pits, each about four feet by four feet across and about five feet deep.  Each of these crudely-hewn pits contained a person, having the appearance of a charred skeleton with a pale greenish-colored glow emanating from inside the rib cage.  It was obvious that the pale glow was the person's tormented soul, which can never be extinguished or annihilated.
Just in that one cavern-like area, were huge demon-like figures that appeared to be, if I had to guess, members of a sort-of army of satan.  They were methodical in making their rounds, clearly assigned to do nothing but heap continual torment on the souls trapped in their pits.  Perhaps, the thing that was most unbearable was hearing all of the hopeless, screaming souls pleading their cases with the demonic soldiers, how they did not deserve to be there in Hell!  I could hear every one of their high-pitched, ear-piercing begs pleading for a second chance and their reasons why they should not be there - each plea falling on deaf ears.  And, while the countless tormented souls seemed to be desperately trying to crawl out of the pits, those huge demon-like figures continually came around and violently kicked them back down.
Something that amazed me was the type of stone in which each of the pits was dug.  I had never given it much thought, but once I had seen it, it was obvious that the rock played a big part in what was going on there.  It was very porous and had extremely sharp-edged, jagged surfaces.  Its likeness was that of a black type of coral.  It was clearly painful to stand on or to touch; but not only that, its rough, open pores also allowed white hot flames from the earth's core to shoot up through it into each of the pits, continually consuming each of the souls with sudden ongoing bursts of fire.
Almost as tormenting as the flames and the jagged stone, was the permanent state of nausea that I could see everyone there suffering through, and the indescribable stench that consumed the entire atmosphere.  It was the stench of the combined rotting souls all trapped in the confines of hell, with no fresh air ever, and for eternity.  Again, the saddest part of it all was hearing the countless souls there simultaneously begging for forgiveness, pleas that went totally unheard.  Does that sound like a party to you?

“But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.  But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with The Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.  The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.”  (2 Peter 3:7-9)

As I was leaving there, every single cell of my body was consumed with the reality that God is so close to us here on earth - He is just one prayer away.  While we have a pulse, we have a will and the privilege to choose to accept God and reject satan and eternal torment.  It became crystal clear to me that satan goes to such devious extremes to blind us from that fact.
Until our heart stops beating, we have a choice to make and a will to choose.  God has gifted us with the privilege to accept the great sacrifice that His Son Jesus Christ paid, so we could have eternity to spend with our loving, joyful, peace-filled Father in Heaven.  Only until we have glimpsed into Hell, or have had the unfathomable honor of standing in the Divine Presence of Almighty God, can we even begin to perceive the infinite enormity of what Jesus Christ has freely given of Himself, for each of us!

God has no desire that people should go to that eternal place of torment, but that every one of us be saved.  So, He has provided the Way of escape, through Jesus Christ.

“Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die....”  (Ezekiel 33:11a)

So, how does one escape an eternity from that most terrifying of all places? You must receive the Gift of Faith to believe the Truth of the Gospel. You must repent by turning away from your sins, and ask Jesus Christ to come into your heart and to be your Lord and Savior.
You might ask, How do I do that?  It is simple; say this prayer from your heart:  "Father God, in the precious name of Jesus Christ, the King of all kings and the Lord of all lords, I lay my life at Your feet.  I come before You confessing that I am a sinner, and asking that You forgive me of all my sins -- those that I know that I have committed as well as those that I am not even aware of.  I ask that You come into my heart and be my Lord.  I lay my life and everything in it at Your feet, and ask that You would take me now and begin the process of changing me into Your likeness.  I ask that You redeem the time that has past and allow me the opportunity to become exactly what You have predestined me to be from the foundation of the earth.  I commit my life to You now, and thank You for receiving me as Your own.  In the wonderful Name of Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God, Amen."
So that you have a better understanding of why it is necessary for you to pray that prayer of commitment to God from your heart, I would like to bring to your attention this story found in the book of John.
"There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto Him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.  Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.  Nicodemus said unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?  Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit . Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.  The wind blows where it listeth, and thou hear the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goes: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?  Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and know not these things? Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.  If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?  And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.  And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:  That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."  (John 3:1-16)

You see, only God can offer us eternal life, peace and joy!  All who end up like satan will experience death and eternal suffering.  So, the next time you hear someone say that Hell is going to be a party, let them know that they have been given the wrong address.  Then tell them that the only eternal celebration that will be held will be held in God's house and God is personally inviting them to come.

If you have any questions about our work, or if you would like to make a special tax-deductible donation, place a special order for any of our books, magazines, or CDs, or to share a testimony or prayer request with us, please e-mail us. Also feel free to write a letter and mail it to TOWARD THE MARK, P.O. Box 1152, Yorktown, VA 23692-1152.
